Food, Culture
& My Journey

Cape Verdean roots. African heritage. European influence. Mexican inspiration. A lifetime of food, travel and stories brought together around one table.

Welcome

Welcome to Flavors Without Borders

I've been cooking for as long as I can remember. Long before culinary school, I was already the person behind the stove cooking for family, friends, coworkers and pretty much anyone who was hungry. I've catered, worked in restaurants, traveled, experimented and spent a lifetime learning about food by cooking it—and probably even more time eating it.

Now I'm taking that lifelong passion to another level and studying culinary arts professionally.

My food begins with my Cape Verdean and West African roots, but my life has taken me much farther. France was part of my upbringing and education. I lived and worked in Italy. I travel extensively, return to Mexico regularly and seem to discover something I want to cook almost everywhere I go.

This is where all of those experiences meet.

Some recipes will be traditional. Some will cross a few borders. Some will come from something I ate while traveling. And sometimes I'll just cook something because I'm hungry.

Welcome to Flavors Without Borders.

Where My Story Begins

Where My Story Begins

I was born in São Vicente, Cape Verde, and grew up on Boa Vista, surrounded by beautiful beaches, clean Atlantic water and an island that felt like one enormous playground.

Cape Verde gave me my first connection to food, seafood, nature and the ocean. It's where this story begins.
